SUMMARY
Executive summary: This IHO submission provides information on the International Hydrographic Organization's objections to the proposal by Italy (MSC 69/5/3) regarding revision of SOLAS chapter V.

Background
1 In accordance with paragraph 5.73 of MSC 69/22, the IHO has determined the views of the IHO Member States in regard to the proposal by Italy (MSC 69/5/3).
2 The IHO Member States are almost unanimously opposed to the proposal, with the exception of Italy. The relevant comments are given at annex.
