4 Japan also invites Member Governments to:
.1 implement, in accordance with MSC/Circ.861, resolution A.814 (19) and A.764 (18), measures to reduce false distress alerts, including appropriate control of registered ID information of the GMDSS equipment;
.2 provide information on false distress alerts received and on inappropriate control of IDs to the Secretariat; and
.3 analyse the present state of the affairs based on the above-mentioned reports and propose concrete measures for the reduction of false distress alerts to consider them at COMSAR 5.
Action requested of the Sub-Committee
5 The Sub-Committee is invited to consider the above-mentioned proposals and take action as appropriate.
