Action requested of the Sub-Committee
4 The United States recommends the Sub-Committee to:
.1 invite the International Mobile Satellite Organization (Inmarsat) consider improved means for shore-to-ship communications during a distress, including those proposed above, and report on their findings, taking into account technical means as well as legal concerns; and
.2 include improved means for shore-to-ship communications during a distress as a requirement in the draft "Criteria for Provision of Mobile Satellite Communications Systems and Coast Earth Stations in the GMDSS" (COMSAR 4/3/5).
