Executive summary: This document contains amendments to IMO resolution A.706 (17) proposed by the IHO Commission on the Promulgation of Radio Navigational Warnings.

1 The IHO Commission on the Promulgation of Radio Navigational Warnings (CPRNW) held its fourth meeting at the IHB in Monaco from 17 to 19 February 1998. Based on operational experience gained by the NAVAREA Co-ordinators, the CPRNW proposes the following amendments to the publication "IHO/IMO World-Wide Navigational Warning Service Guidance Document" (IHO Special Publication No.53) based on Annex 1 to resolution A.706 (17).
2 The amendments are:
.1 paragraph 1, Introduction, delete the words "HF Morse (A1A)";
.2 insert new paragraph 2.1.1 and renumber the remaining paragraphs. The new 2.1 will read "Inmarsat - Means the Organization established by the Convention on the International Maritime Satellite Organization (Inmarsat) adopted on 3 September 1976";
.3 delete paragraph 3.1.1.3 - HE Morse (A1A);
.4 delete paragraphs 3.2.2 and 3.2.2.1 - Manual System (HF A1A) and renumber 3.2.2.2 as 3.2.1.3 and 3.2.3 as 3.2.2;
.5 delete paragraph 4.2.1.3.7 and renumber remaining paragraphs;
.6 paragraph 4.2.2.1, in the penultimate line, change the word desirable to read "necessary";
