2.4.11 Matsui Iron Works Co., Ltd.

(1) Development of new model

The MA33GSC type engine was developed. Table 2.4.11-1 and Fig. 2.4.11-1 indicate the principal particulars and the section of this engine respectively. This engine was developed as main engines of fishing boats, cargo ships and tankers, aiming at high durability, higher economy (lower fuel consumption), easy maintenance and low cost.

2.4.12 Mitsui Engineering & Shipbuilding Co., Ltd.

(1) Development of new model

The light and compact super loge-stroke 6S50MC-C type engine, which was the first engine of SMC-C series in the world, was completed in April, 1997. Following this engine, the first model of S60MC-C type engine in the world, the 8S60MC-C engine (cylinder bore: 600mm, piston stroke: 2,400mm, mean effective pressure: 19bar, number of cylinders: 8, output: 18,040kW (24,560PS) and engine speed: 108rpm), which is one size larger than the S50MC-C type engine, was completed at Tamano Works of the company in June, 1998. Photo 2.4.12-1 and Fig. 2.4.12-1 indicate the general view and the section of the engine respectively. This engine was mounted as a main engine on the container ship built by Minami-Nippon Shipbuilding Co., Ltd..

Continuously, the first model of S46MC-C type engine in the company, the 7S46MC-C engine (cylinder bore: 460mm, piston stroke: 1,923mm, mean effective pressure: 19bar, number of cylinders: 7, output: 9,170kW (12,495PS) and engine speed: 129rpm), which is the smallest size in the SMC-C series, was completed in July, 1998. The section of the engine is also indicated in Fig. 2.4.12-1.

This engine was mounted as a main engine on the refrigerator ship built by Usuki Shipyard Co., Ltd..
