We wish to obtain successful results as soon as possible by duly consulting with the members of each of Editors, Planning and Secretary Committees as well as the members of the Secretariat of the Society.
Lastly, the third point is how to be successful in ISME 2000. The preparation for this event is steadily in progress by efforts of the members the ISME 2000 Executive Committee together with the people of Nippon Kaiji Kyokai who undertook the role of the ISME Secretariat and many other persons concerned, but a number of difficult tasks such as collection of good research papers and call for participants still remain. In any case, we consider the success in ISME 2000 will directly lead to the activation and the development of the Society and we have to do our best for the event.
While I prize the friendly atmosphere our Japan Marine Engine Society now enjoys and is proud of, I will bring all our strength so that the Society may develop into the institute that can be recognized as first class and very reliable by both ourselves and others; therefore, I sincerely ask all members of the Society to understand my intention and offer their support. Especially, I shall be very happy if you would let me know your proposals and opinions for the development of the Society at every opportunity and through network.
