I. When a foreign material has penetrated the surface:
Treatment:
1. Remove the material gently using a swab or gauze slightly unraveled, softened, and moistened.
2. If the pain is severe, apply a few drops of a topical anesthetic for ophthalmology and carry out the above procedure after 5-10 minutes. Do not produce further injuries by rough treatment!
3. After removal of the material, apply an antibiotic eye lotion and have the patient wear an eye bandage.
II. When the foreign body cannot be removed or it has penetrated deeply into the eye:
Treatment:
1. Apply an antibiotic eye lotion and a cold compress with the patient wearing an eye bandage.
2. Administer an oral antibiotic.
3. Give Antipyretic analgesic antiinflammatory agent orally for severe pain.
4. Examination by a medical specialist as soon as possible.
