WORK PROGRAMME AND AGENDA FOR NAV 46
Note by the Chairman
1 The Chairman, in consultation with the Secretariat, prepared a draft revised work programme of the Sub-Committee and a draft provisional agenda for the forty-sixth session of the Sub-Committee, as set out in annexes 1 and 2 respectively.
2 The draft revised work programme (annex 1) has been prepared on the basis of the Sub-Committee's work programme (NAV 45/2/2, annex 1) approved by MSC 71, and takes account of the progress made at the session.
3 The draft provisional agenda for NAV 46 (annex 2) has been prepared following the Sub-Committee's agenda management procedure, contained in the Guidelines on the organization and method of work of the Maritime Safety Committee and the Marine Environment Protection Committee and their subsidiary bodies (MSC/Circ. 931 and MEPC/Circ.364), which specifies that the provisional agenda of a sub-committee session should include items selected from the Sub-Committee's work programme and the number of items of the sub-committee's session should, as an average, be no more than 10, bearing in mind that the volume of the work under any item may vary largely.
Action requested of the Sub-Committee
4 The Sub-Committee is invited to note the above information and take action as appropriate, in particular:
.1 to consider the proposed revised work programme of the Sub-Committee, set out in annex l, delete items finalized at this session and recommend those items that should be retained and their priorities, target completion dates or number of sessions the item will take to complete as the case may be; and
.2 to agree on the provisional agenda of NAV 46, as set out in annex 2 for the approval of MSC 72.
