Moved symbol 1.52 to the portion of the annex dealing with safety (vs. fire protection) equipment.

 

The WG agreed to change the title of 1.56 to "Space monitored by gas detector(s)."

 

The WG agreed to the suggested change in terminology for 1.57.

 

Corrected 1.58 to include a letter for the type of space to the right of the symbol as specified in the notes.

 

Corrected symbol 1.60 as suggested.

 

The WG did not agree to the proposed changes to 2.1 and 2.2, and did not agree to the deletion of 2.3 (which would be consequent to the proposed change in 2.2).

 

Fincantieri(Italy) comments (Fincantieri letter of 6 March 1999; with reference to the specific clause or figure affected)

 

The WG agreed that the use of symbols for manually operated call points (1.51) should be optional at the discretion of the competent authority.

 

The WG considered the wording of 3.1.3 to be sufficiently flexible to allow for the optimum use of either separate or combined plans as best suited to a particular situation.

 

The WG agreed to add a new symbol for fire damper remote controls, which may be marked with the identification of the damper controlled.

 

The WG agreed to remove the detailed list of items from 3.3.1 and replace it with a general reference to the structural fire protection details in annex A.

 

The WG did not agree to require an additional copy of the plans to be placed inside the ship close to main embarkation entrances of passenger ships.

 

The WG revised 1.50 to indicate it relates to the general alarm, not a fire alarm.

 

The WG did not agree to delete 1.53-1.56, but made editorial refinements to them.

 

The WG did not agree that additional symbols were needed for emergency electrical appliances power shut-off, control station, or quick closing valves.

 

The WG did not agree any changes related to the use of 1.28 (fire hydrant) in conjunction with 1.42 (fire hose and nozzle).

 

The WG did not agree to any changes to 1.35.

 

The WG revised 2.21 to read "Embarkation ladders or other approved means" so as to encompass equipment such as controlled-descent devices which are sometimes used as alternatives to standard embarkation ladders.
