ISO/TC 8/SC 1/WG 3 N 21 - Annex 2
This annex summarizes the discussion and actions taken on the comments submitted pursuant to the first CD ballot of ISO/CD 17631 Safety Plans. Comments 1-27 (as numbered by the Convener) were considered at the last meeting of the working group (London 1999-03-15/16), and the discussions and actions taken were summarized in Annex 3 to the official report of that meeting. This document covers the remainder of the comments, beginning with comment 28.
Following the discussion of the comments on the official ballot, is a summary of discussions and actions taken on proposals submitted by Japan and Fincantieri Shipyard (Italy).
28. Added references to access to 3.4 and 3.2.1.
29. The WG did not agree to add the text proposed by Denmark for 3.4.
30. Will remove "and Arrangements" from the heading of 3.5 for clarity; otherwise, English is correct.
31. Added references to specific relevant symbols in 3.5.
32. Changed to generic title "Examples of plans" in 3.6 for clarity.
33. WG did not agree to add cargo ship examples in Annex B, considering that passenger ships are the worst case.
34. Deleted numbering of sub-clause 4.1; and then deleted all of clause 4 because the group agreed that requirements for approval are outside the scope of this standard.
35. See 34 above; deleted clause 4, and renumbered following clauses accordingly. Requirements for approval would be contained in national legislation.
36. Changed title of 5.1 to "Accessibility of plans" to better reflect content of the clause.
37. Clause 5.2, revised to require that plans be provided only to officers with defined fire emergency duties.
38. The WG did not agree to remove requirements for distribution of plans to officers from 5.2, but rather expanded scope of standard to include "usage" of plans.
39. Added text to 5.2 to clarify that a booklet is merely an alternative form of a plan.
40. Added text "In addition to the permanently exhibited fire plan specified in 4.1 ..."
41. Removed hanging clause between 5.5 and 5.5.1, and renumbered remaining clauses accordingly.
42. The WG did not agree to the proposed addition of a symbol for ventilation fans, and removed the reference to ventilation fans from 3.3.1.b.
43. The WG did not agree to remove the WT and SWT designations from all of symbols 1.5-1.12, since although some of these door types are not required, there may be cases where they are used, and that information is necessary.
44. The WG agreed to delete the WT/SWT references for B-class doors in 1.6, 1.8, 1.10, and 1.12.
45. WG agreed to delete note re: pump capacity from starters in 1.13, 1.15, 1.19, 1.20. Added text from second sentence of 3.2.1 to 1.14 and 1.60.
46. The WG did not agree to delete 1.17 and 1.18.

52. The WG did not agree to add the number for fire dampers and vents.
53. The WG did not consider it necessary to add symbols to indicate types of fire dampers.
54. The WG agreed to change the title of 1.65 to "Air compressor for breathing devices".
55. The WG did not agree that it was necessary to add additional symbols for watertight bulkheads, control stations, and release stations.
56. The Secretary made a number of editorial corrections as suggested by Germany.
