Changes to work program
The Sub-committee completed development of Committee Drafts of ISO/AWI 17339 Sea anchors for lifeboats and liferafts and ISO/WD 15736 Production testing of pyrotechnic lifesaving appliances, both of which will be balloted by the Secretary as soon as possible.
The Sub-committee resolved all outstanding comments on ISO/DIS 15370, ISO/DIS 15371, ISO/DIS 15372, and ISO/DIS 15734, and all four of these, with refinements as agreed by the Sub-committee pursuant to the comments received, will be submitted to the ISO Central Secretariat in due course for FDIS balloting.
ISO/CD 15735 Training of liferaft servicing technicians and format of servicing records was recently balloted as a Committee Draft with no negative ballots and no comments, and will be forwarded to the ISO Central Secretariat as soon as possible for formal DIS balloting.
ISO/DIS 15738 Gas inflation systems for inflatable life-saving appliances was circulated for formal balloting by the ISO Central Secretariat 1999-03-11.
The Sub-committee had hoped to resolve comments on the previously balloted ISO/CD 17631 Safety plans for fire protection, lifesaving appliances, and means of escape - Arrangement at the recently completed London meeting, but were unable to do so. WG 3 will continue their work by correspondence, and will meet intersessionally in Copenhagen in October, in order to ensure this standard is registered for DIS balloting by the 44th session of the IMO Sub-Committee on Fire Protection in February 2000.
Future scheduled meetings
Intersessional meeting of WG 3, Copenhagen, October 1999, to complete a second ISO/CD 17631 Safety plans for fire protection, lifesaving appliances, and means of escape - Arrangement. In time to submit as DIS to the 44th session of the IMO Sub-Committee on Fire Protection in February 2000.
