A local dispute arbitrator shall forfeit his or her position in the following cases:
1. When the parties concerned withdraw the application for arbitration in accordance with paragraph 2 of the following article.
2. When the local dispute arbitrators notify the parties concerned that the arbitration has been discontinued in accordance with paragraph 6 of the following article
3. When the Minister for Home Affairs or the governor of the To, Do, Fu or Ken informs the parties concerned that the arbitration has been concluded in accordance with paragraph 7 of the following article or paragraph 13 of article 251-3.
4. When the Mayor or other executive organ of the city, town or village withdraws the demand for investigation by the local dispute arbitrators in accordance with article 250-17, applied mutatis mutandis to paragraphs 3 to 1 of article 251.
5. When the local dispute arbitrators have given notification of the results of the investigation or recommendations and the content of the recommendations in accordance with paragraph 1 or 2 of article 250-14 applied mutatis mutandis to paragraph 5 of article 251-3 or paragraph 3 of article 250-14 applied mutatis mutandis to paragraph 6 of article 251-3 or when they have given notice of the results of the investigation in accordance with paragraph 7 of article 251-3 applied mutatis mutandis to paragraph 4 of article 250-14, and have made the same public.
6. When the person or persons making the demand for an investigation or review, or a demand for a declaration or a decision with respect to a hearing as stipulated in article 255-5 withdraws the said demand for an investigation or review or demand for a declaration or a ruling with respect to a hearing.
7. When the Minister for Home Affairs or the governor of the To, Do, Fu or Ken has, after due hearing in accordance with article 255-5, made a judgement with regard to the demand for an investigation or review, or has made a judgement or a decision with regard to the declaration, or has passed a ruling.

The Minister for Home Affairs or governor of the To, Do, Fu or Ken must dismiss a local dispute arbitrator if that arbitrator comes to have a direct interest in the case.

Paragraphs 2, 8, 9 (excluding item number 2) and paragraphs 10 to 14 of article 250-9 shall apply mutatis mutandis to local dispute arbitrators. In such case, under paragraph 2 of the same article, "More than three members" shall read as "More than two members".
