9.3 Harmonization of Messages

・ We must look at harmonizing the six messages. A member pointed out that logistics must be the centre field, but Purchase Order information should also be included in this project because without it, we would end up with more than one harmonizing guideline for different types of trade.

・ It was decided as a matter of priority to treat logistics messages harmonization higher than commercial messages harmonization.

・ Tradegate ECA recommended that we check with ITIGG at the Atlanta meeting reuse of D.98B for the directory and the updated P&R (Principles and Rules). The discussion on the directory relates to the timing of the trial and which directory will be available at that time.

・ Tradegate ECA also recommended that we examine whether COSTCO was the appropriate message for the business function covered by Container Load Plan (CLP). Both of these issues to be discussed by the sub-committee and recommendation made back to the Coordination Committee.

・ The following persons were nominated to the sub-committee to discuss these issues:

Mr. Kokubo (POLISA)

Mr. Keogh (Tradegate)

Mr. Kim (KL-Net)

Mr. Kashima (SC/SF Net) or his assignee

9.4 EDI Agreements (Contracts)

POLISA. Tradegate, KL-Net and their users have different providers in each country.

POLISA is the service provider as a whole. Tradegate uses VAN as a provider, KL-Net is physically the provider of VAN.

Today each country is communicating through three, possibly four VAN providers.

It was decided that a three-way document would be created by June 2000, outlining that the participants were willing to work together.

1] MOU (Memorandum of Understanding) between POLISA, Tradegate and KL-Net, (trial agreement between Van provider's).

2] The issue of VAN to be left to VANs.

3] A simple one-page agreement between each trading partners pair participating in the trial.

9.5 Project Formation and Cost Bearing

1) Project Formation

・ The meeting agreed to set up an International EC/EDI Trial Coordination Committee within three countries, comprising POLINET and SC/SF Net in Japan, Tradegate in Australia and KL-Net in Korea.

・ It was suggested that there would be four Coordination Committee meetings during the project period between April 2000 and March 2001 with the hosting country in turn.

2) Cost Bearing

・ The costs for development, implementation and operation of the trial are to be born by each country.

・ The sender pays for what he sends and the receiver pays for what he receives.

・ It was also agreed to use video conferencing rooms to keep costs down of the future meetings.

・ Regarding the Coordination Committee meeting:

・ The hosting country bears the cost of setting the environment, e.g. meeting room, coffees, lunch and translation, etc.

・ The participating country bears the travel and accommodation expenses by themselves.
