The 18,000m3 LPG/NH3/VCM carrier AGRI VIKING was constructed at Ariake Works of Hitachi Zosen Corporation and delivered to Norsk Hydro A.S. in March, 1997.

Features

1. The vessel is designed and constructed to carry liquefied gas cargoes in three independent self-supporting prismatic cargo tanks. Each tank is capable of loading commercial propane, commercial butane, anhydrous ammonia, vinyl chloride monomer, propylene, butadiene, butylene, ethylchloride and hydrocarbon mixture.

2. Any two grades of cargoes can be loaded in the cargo tanks simultaneously, with the grouping of No.1 and No.3 cargo tanks (No.1 group) and No.2 cargo tank (No.2 group).

3. Two electric motor driven deepwell pumps (200m3/h each) are provided for each cargo tank. Two booster pumps and one combined type cargo heater/vaporizer are provided on the upper deck to transfer the fully refrigerated cargo to the ambient temperature shore tank.

4. Two deck tanks (120m3 and 50m3 ) are provided for changeover of cargoes during voyage.

5. A 1,500 Nm3/h inert gas generator is provided to produce dry inert gas or dry air. The generator is used for inerting and dehydration of the cargo system and interbarrier spaces and for make-up service of interbarrier spaces during voyage.

6. The optimized hull form, a large-diameter propeller with Hitachi Zosen Super Stream Duct and a long stroke low-speed main engine are adopted for improvement of propulsive efficiency and fuel oil saving.

7. A controllable pitch propeller type bow thruster is provided for improvement in maneuverability.
