Features
1. The largest vessel of its type in Japan, HAYABUSA is the first Kawasaki Jet Piercer and the first aluminum car ferry to be operated in Japan. With two passenger decks and one vehicle deck, the ferry can carry 460 passengers and 94 cars. It can also carry heavy trucks and big buses.
2. The ferry has excellent seakeeping ability with its special spear-like twin bows which pierce rather than ride over the waves. This seakeeping ability is enhanced with the use of the "Riide Control System".
3. The propulsion system consists of four sets of marine diesel engines and waterjet units. Two sets of each are installed on each of the twin hulls. Newly developed Kawasaki KPJ-169A type waterjet propulsion units are installed on the vessel.
