2 S/R and -15 kPa for #3 S/R. Where, symbol "-" means the pressure of back side is higher than that of front side on seal ring. Both temperatures of #1 and #3 seal rings which have the higher back pressure than the front pressure are so small, even #2 seal ring which has the highest temperature indicates simply about 60 ℃.
Furthermore, amount of the water or oil, which was collected by the drain collection unit, was simulatively examined. About 2.5 L/min (about 3600 L/day) of the water or 0.12 L/min (about 170 L/day) of the oil can be collected under the condition of the air pressure 50 kPa and air flow rate 3 L/min ANR blowing from the needle valve in the unit.
≪Test Conditions≫
・ L.O. circulation by pump with cooler.
・ Velocity: 3.8 m/s
・ ( ) shows the differential pressure on S/R.
3.2 Performance on actual ship
A example of the performance characteristics of AIRGUARD on actual ship is shown in Fig.9. In spite of the shaft revolution and the temperatures of the sea water and oil were changed, thepressures in the air and oil chambers were found to follow up to the change of the sea water pressure. In addition, the air consumption was always constant and small (30 L/minANR).
