1. Introduction
We developed model S185 in 1977, M200 in 1983 and M220 in 1986. Our total sales up to now reach more than 5,000 units mainly for the ocean-going ship market, and we have received high appreciation for our achievements in this area. The market demand for marine generator equipment has become diversified and advanced from the viewpoint of safety navigation of the ship, environmental reform, labor-saving and automated operation. At the same time, there is a growing need for lower cost of operation and simplification of the systems in the ship. Under the circumstances, it has become common that auxiliary engines can be operated on the same heavy fuel oil as the main engine. Meanwhile, we would like to introduce a newly developed series of model 6N18(A)L, 6/8N21(A)L in anticipation of needs for the 21 st century as a new type of medium-speed diesel engine for marine generator.
2. Target for development
A new series engine covers the generator capacity of 320kW to 1200kW. At the time of development, we put the following target in order to meet the demand of customers who want to use heavy fuel oil of 700cSt at 50 ℃, to use an engine of environmental conservation, to operate continuously running on low load and to install without spending time and expense.
1] High reliability, high performance
2] Easy installation
3] Labor-saving
4] Low emission, low vibration, low noise
For the target of development, we realized a new series by adopting the latest design and manufacturing technique on the basis of our abundant technical know-how, achievements and experience which we obtained through long time engine manufacturing.
3. Engine main specifications
A new series model 6N18(A)L, 6/8N21(A)L is prepared specifications for 720/750rpm and 900/1000rpm respectively, both making it possible to burn heavy fuel oil of 700cSt at 50℃. Engine specifications for a new series model are shown to Table 2.
