RAILWAY DEVELOPMENT DIRECTION
■ The sub-regional railway can be justified only when there is with substantial cross-border traffic due to its huge construction cost and substantial maintenance/operations costs. The Study suggests the following actions:
<Immediate Actions>
・ Rehabilitation of the destroyed section between Poipet and Sisophon (48km) in Cambodia
・ Restoration of the railway extension from Tha Sadet to Vientiane (15km) in Laos
<Medium-Term Action>
・ Construction of the missing link between Phnom Penh and HCM City (240-280km)
