The hydroacoustic network is designed to detect explosions in the ocean, in the low atmosphere and underground near the ocean (e.g. in a small island). Figure 2 illustrates this coverage.

IMS HYDROACOUSTIC STATIONS

 

Two different types of hydroacoustic stations have been chosen for use in the IMS, the hydrophone station and the T-phase station. In the following section the stations characteristics and specifications are presented in detail.
