3. Inverse analyses
The tomography experiments are conducted for three cases with five, seven and nine transceivers (hereafter Cases I, II and III, respectively) in which the ocean model domain is covered adequately (Fig. 1).
The data used in this work is travel time differences △ti. random noises, produced by multiplying random numbers between -2π and 2π with 1ms, are added to △ti. To test the effect of the random noises on the inversion, Case II with seven acoustic transceivers is further divided into two cases; Case II-A / Case II-B is the case with/without the random noises.
The horizontal velocity field u(x,y) is determined from the stream function Ψ(x,y) represented by the following truncated Fourier series:
