Greetings
The 7th World Gateball Championship was staged successfully over a period of three days from November 13 to 15 last year.
Held at Alamoa Park in Honolulu, the event drew gateball lovers from all over the world, with a list of participants comprising 203 teams from 12 countries and territories-Argentina, Australia, Brazil. Canada, China, China Taipei, Japan, South Korea, Paraguay, Peru, Singapore and the USA.
During the championship, we were blessed with blue skies and occasional showers that pleasantly cooled us in the hot weather of Hawaii, making the championship all the more successful.
The championship gave us an opportunity to witness the wonderful competitive spirit and sportsmanship of the participants-in their faces, handshakes, and the words exchanged among them following the heated competition for top position.
On behalf of the World Gateball Union, I would like to take this opportunity to extend our heartfelt thanks to you for your invaluable assistance and contribution toward the success of the championship.
In conclusion, I would also like to request your continued support and cooperation to make the 8th World Gateball Championship scheduled for 2002 another truly successfill event.

1998年11月13日･14日･15日の3日間、｢第7回世界ゲートボール選手権大会｣が盛大に開催されました。
ゲートボールを愛する人達が国境を越え、アメリカ合衆国ハワイ州ホノルル市のアラモアナパークに世界12カ国、地域(アルゼンチン、オーストラリア、ブラジル、カナダ、中国、チャイニーズタイペイ、日本、韓国、パラグアイ、ペルー、シンガポール、アメリカ)より203チームが集結いたしました。
開催地のUSAゲートボール連盟の方々や多くの地元ボランティアのご協力により、ゲートボール界最大のビックイベントとして歴代の大会規模を大きく上回るゲートボール愛好者をお迎えすることができました。
大会当日は、青空のもと、時折ハワイの暑さを癒すにはほどよいシャワーもあり、幾度となくハワイ名物の虹が大会の盛り上げに一役かっていました。
青い海と緑に囲まれたアラモアナパークで、世界一を目指した真剣勝負が繰り広げられる中でも試合後の笑顔とかたい握手にことばの壁を越えたスポーツのすばらしさをみることができました。
ここに本大会が無事終了いたしましたことをご報告し、ご支援ご協力を賜り皆様へのお礼とさせていただきます。
