Summary of important new projects
(1) Establishment of the "Small-scale public water supply improvement project"
In order to eliminate regions not yet served by a water supply, the "Small-scale public water supply improvement project" will be implemented in areas which urgently need a small-scale public water supply facility, in tie-up with National Treasury grants-in-aid.

(2)Extension of "Subway improvement project"
In order to improve the transportation capacity of public subways and to mitigate congestion, the "Subway improvement project," in which platforms, stairs and aisles will be constructed and expanded by local non-subsidized services, will be extended for 3 years to FY 2000.
