the AP concerned to limit the types of entities according to the scope of the AP. For example, AP218 limiting the types of assemblies to be types of plates or panels, rather than something like pipes (covered by AP217). The Utilities can then be used on an as-needed basis to represent commonly used concepts such as versioning, measurement units etc.

In other STEP projects these "core" models are registered separately as Part 100's, which may be the final place where the SCM belongs. The latest version of the planning model is shown below in Figure 4. Those Units of Functionality (UoFs) that have been shadowed, consist of other UoF structures or Building Blocks where they terminate into the EXPRESS code found inside each One. Each AP should identify and use the appropriate UoFs in a consistent manner.

EMSA Liaison with SC4

At Florence, a resolution was passed within WG3 to support EMSA's "A-Liaison" proposal. A letter has since been sent to SC4 to formally ask for this to be considered. The next step is for a resolution to be passed by SC4 members at the ISO meeting in June 1998. According to the SC4 secretariat, the issue was included as an advance resolution for Bad Aibling (Resolution "J"). This will, therefore, be discussed and voted on at the Bad Aibling SC4 meeting on the Friday 12th June.
