3.2 Fire protection appliances plan
3.2.1 The plan shall show the arrangement and location of the items which are listed in Annex A. The type, quantity of water delivered per time unit, and pressure head shall be indicated either next to the fire pump symbol or in the legend. Where spaces or deck areas are protected by fixed fire-extinguishing systems, the amount of fire-extinguishing medium, except water, shall be indicated in the plan.
3.2.1.1 The content of each fire and safety locker shall be indicated in the legend. The items contained in a fire or safety locker need not be indicated on the plan.
3.3 Structural fire protection plan
3.3.1 The plan shall show:
a) vertical "A" and "B" class divisions;
b) details of the ventilating systems including identification number and location of ventilating fans, fire dampers, and ventilation system controls; and
c) details of fire detection and fire alarm systems.
3.4 Means of escape plans
The plan shall show each means of escape within the ship and identify assembly and embarkation stations.
Primary and secondary routes of escape shall be identified by arrows.
NOTE Reference may be made to IMO resolution A. 757(18) Standards for the calculation of the width of stairways forming means of escape on passenger ships, adopted on 4 November 1993.
3.5 Life-saving appliances and arrangements plans
The plan shall show the arrangement and location of the items which are listed in Annex A. In addition, the plan shall indicate the quantity of each particular item of life-saving appliances and arrangements provided. Survival craft capacity at each stowage position shall be indicated in the legend.
3.6 Examples of fire and safety plans
Illustrative examples of fire and safety plans developed in accordance with this Standard are contained in informative Annex B.
4 Approval of plans and booklets
4.1 All plans and booklets referred to in this Standard shall be approved by the competent Authority.
5 Documentation requirements
5.1 Fire plans and safety plans
The plans drawn up in accordance with the provisions of clauses 3.2 to 3.5, which may also take the form of a combined or consolidated plan as referred to in clause 3.1.2, shall be kept readily available for the information of the ship's officers. In addition, the fire protection appliances plan shall be permanently displayed for ready consultation.
5.2 Booklet
If a booklet is provided in lieu of a fire plan, then a booklet shall be provided to each officer. In addition, a copy shall also be kept available for ready consultation on the navigating bridge.
