(8) The amount of money to be used for the insuree whose care needs are so severe as to be in need of institutional care will approximately be 290,000 yen (US$2,230) a month in average for the care in a nursing home, 320,000 yen (US$2,461) a month in average for the care in a health care facility for the elderly (rohjin hoken shisetsu), and 430,000 yen (US$3,308) a month in average for the care in a long-term care geriatric hospital.
The institutional care needs will also be measured with a five-point scale, by which the amount of money for each individual patient will be decided. In other works, in case of a nursing home, 290,000 yen a month will be an average amount of payment per patient a nursing home receives from the insurer (local government).
