Introduction
In the preceding three parts of this booklet, the demographic, social, and economic backgrounds of problems of the elderly were described in detail. In this part, the author would like to focus his attention on the development and present conditions of social security, health, medical, and social services for the elderly in Japan. In the final section, the author will offer a projected outlook of our health care and social services in the near future.
