allow cell growth under high pressure. The cydD gene is known to be necessary for expression of the components of respiratory systems. Considering these results, it seems possible that regulation of the respiratory system in strain DSS 12 is responsive to high hydrostatic pressure, and the respiratory system appears to play a significant role in cell growth under high pressure.
