The cornerstone of the current WHO policy on tuberculosis control was formulated in 1964, in the eighth report of the WHO Expert Committee on Tuberculosis and reaffirmed and enlarged in the ninth report in 1974.

Consultation was held by WHO in 1986.
The meeting brought together experts in TB and PHC.
