INTEGRATION OF TB CONTROL ACTIVITIES INTO THE EXISTING BASIC HEALTH SERVICES

 

The cornerstone of the current WHO policy on tuberculosis control was formulated in 1964, in the eighth report of the WHO Expert Committee on Tuberculosis and reaffirmed and enlarged in the ninth report in 1974.

 

THE CASE FINDING/TREATMENT COMPLEX HAS BEEN FURTHER STRENGTHENED

 

。¬he aim should be to make available effective short-course regimens for all countries, whether technically advanced or under economic development.

 

。¬he necessity of attempting to implement tuberculosis control measures through the PHC.

 

A joint IUTA/WHO study group recommended in 1981.

 

INTERGRATION OF TUBERCULOSIS CONTROL INTO PRIMARY HEALTH CARE

 

。¬he pracicability of TB control technology at the different PHC level were reviewed

 

。¬he technical and operational problems in the intergration process were advised.

 

。¬he key issues and many solutions in the true spirit of P.H.C were discussed and proposed.

 

Consultation was held by WHO in 1986.

The meeting brought together experts in TB and PHC.
