Impact of TB Control Programme in Breaking the Chain of Transmission of Tubercle Bacilli in a Community
BCG vaccination: Its immediate impact is not so significant as most childhood TB prevented by BCG vaccination are non-infectious.
Chemoprophylaxis: Similar to that of BCG vaccination unless applied to the young adult population.
CF and treatment complex: Most effective to break the chain.
Isolation: It has become less significant as the infectiousness disappears rapidly by the intensive chemotherapy. Initial hospitalization is re-evaluated as a part of DOTS.
