Backgraound for Enactment of TB Control Law

　

Serious situation of TB: Mortality and incidence rates are high, in particular, in young adult, and TB control is a top priority in national health care.

　

Availability of new tools: Several new tools such as tuberculin testing, BCG vaccination, MMR, new methods of treatment including artificial pneumothorax were available through advances in TB science.

　

The aim of enactment of new TB Control Law: To distribute the benefits of advances in TB science to all Japanese irrespective of their residence (rural or urban) or financial status (rich or poor).
