Shipyard Scheduling System (KLEAN)
A computer aided shipyard scheduling system has been developed at the Ishikawajima-Harima Heavy Industries Co., Ltd. Kure Shipyard. The system is intended to make the shipyard more flexible and competitive, by means of accurate systematic planning and rapid visualized management using a personal computer LAN system. The system has been developed since 1992 to rationalize handwritten schedules at each shop. There had been various individual scheduling tools at different management levels. However, the LAN made it possible to connect these individual tools, and finally an integrated scheduling system was established.
Fig. 1 shows the block storage plan on the shipyard layout. The position of blocks outside the shop housings is updated everyday with different colors corresponding to ship numbers. Fig. 2 shows the block production schedule including hull steel assembly, fitting and painting. With referring to the both figures in the graphic display units, for example, the manager and workers can easily recognize day by day the block position and what kind of job being done on the blocks.
The system can be used to simulate a cost-minimum shipyard schedule and to support improvement of productivity.
