179,869-dwt Capesize Bulk Carrier SGC CAPITAL
The 179,869-dwt large cape size bulk carrier SGC CAPITAL was delivered in March 1996 by Sasebo Heavy Industryies Co., Ltd. (SSK) to Jumbo Alliance Limited of Liberia. It was the first of two sister ships and the second ship was delivered in May 1996 to the same Owner. The ship has several features as below ;-
1. The bulk carrier, a flush decker without a forecastle, has a bulbous bow and transom stern.
2. The cargo space is divided into nine cargo holds, in which heavy cargo will be alternately loadable. No. 6 cargo hold is also used for a water ballast deep tank. Nos. 4 and 8 holds are able to load water ballast in order to adjust the ship's air draft during cargo handling at a berth.
3. The ship has no cargo handling gear but equipped with large opening hatches and side rolling steel hatch covers operated by means of hydraulic motor driven chain devices.
4. The accommodation house is built in five layers, one layer less than similar type of these ship, and compact arrangement of living quarter is achieved.
5. To improve propulsion performance, the ship is equipped with a Sasebo stern fin (SSF) propulser and high-performance skewed propeller. The main engine is a low-speed, long- stroke marine diesel engine with derating specifications to reduce fuel oil consumption.
NK-MO notation enables unattended engine room operation.
