The 259,984-dwt VLCC OHMINESAN was constructed at Ariake Works of Hitachi Zosen Corporation and delivered to Extol Shipping S.A. in July 1996.
Features
1. The Hitachi Zosen Super Stream Duct (SSD) is installed astern to improve propulsive efficiency and contribute to energy saving.
2. Direct access trunks from upper deck to double bottom space are arranged at the center line of each transverse bulkhead for easier access to and better ventilation of double bottom space.
3. Stringers, ladders and steps are arranged for easier inspection and maintenance work of double hull space.
4. Self-stripping unit of main cargo pumps and a tank cleaning pump are provided to shorten cargo-handling time.
5. A low-speed, long-stroke main engine in combination with E.G. E./turbo generator system (Hitachi Zosen ETG-2A system) achives significant fuel saving performance.
6. All remote control and monitoring functions, i.e., navigation, machinery plant operation and cargo handling including inerting of cargo tanks are synthesized in the central control station on navigation bridge deck.
