Gas Carriers-LNG
19,100m3 LNG Carrier SURYA AKI
The 19,100m3 LNG carrier SURYA AKI was built at the Sakaide Works of Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Ltd. and delivered to MCGC International Ltd. in February, 1996.
The ship is transporting LNG from Bontang LNG terminal in Indonesia to Hatsukaichi LNG terminal of Hiroshima Gas Co., Kagoshima LNG terminal of Nippon Gas Co. and Senboku LNG terminal of Osaka Gas Co.
Features
1. Cargo tank system is of three (3) Moss type independent spherical tanks made of aluminum alloy. The tank system is a new design as a Moss type LNG carrier having the smallest capacity.
2. Kawasaki Panel System for thermal insulation of cargo tanks is adopted.
3. The ship has three (3) loading manifolds; two (2) manifolds at high positions for loading/unloading LNG at terminals for larger LNG carriers and one (1) manifold at a low position for terminals dedicated for this vessel.
4. Main engine is one (1) set of high-performance steam turbine, and two (2) sets of boilers with good efficiency having a mode exclusively burning boil-off gas in addition to the conventional dual fuel mode are mounted.
