The Largest Aluminum Car Ferry in Japan HAYABUSA

 

The 100-meter long largest aluminum car ferry in Japan HAYABUSA was delivered to its joint owners Maritime Credit Corporation of Japan and Kyushi Ferry Boat Co., Ltd. Yawatahama, Japan at the Kobe Works of Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Ltd. in December 1994.

 

Features

 

1. The largest vessel of its type in Japan, HAYABUSA is the first Kawasaki Jet Piercer and the first aluminum car ferry to be operated in Japan. With two passenger decks and one vehicle deck, the ferry can carry 460 passengers and 94 cars. It can also carry heavy trucks and big buses.

2. The ferry has excellent seakeeping ability with its special, spear- like twin bows which pierce, rather than ride over the waves. This seakeeping ability is enhanced with the use of the "Ride Control System."

3. The propulsion system consists of four sets of marine diesel engines and waterjet units. Two sets of each are installed on each of the twin hulls. Newly developed Kawasaki KPJ-169A type waterjet propulsion units are installed on the vessel.

4. HAYABUSA has deluxe first class rooms, first class rooms, special economy class rooms, economy class rooms for general passengers, economy class rooms for group tourists, a bedroom for truck drivers, an entrance lobby, a shop and other service facilities throughout the vessel to meet various needs of passengers.
