(Slide) perceive, V. - Fr. percevoir; L. percipere, to take hold of to feel, to perceive, to comprehend; per, through, and capere to take. 1. to grasp mentally; to take note of; recognize; observe. 2. to become aware of through sight, hearing, touch, taste, or smell. Syn. -- discern, distinguish.

 

(Slide) feel, n. -- 1. the act of feeling; perception by the senses. 2. sense of touch; perception; sensation. 3. the quality of a thing perceived through touch; as some rocks have a greasy feel. 4. an emotional sensation. 5. instructive ability or appreciation.

 

A very important value in quality of life is how a patient feels about any aspect of his life.

 

(Slide) love, v.t.; loved, pt., pp.,; loving, ppr. 1. to feel love for. 2. to show love for by embracing, fondling, kissing, etc. 3. to delight in; to take pleasure in; as, she loves good music. love, v.i. to be in love; to feel the emotion of love.

 

A philosophy of life is included in the poem, "Thoughts on Life."
