'To summarize, home care organizations are under increasing pressure to work harder and more efficiently than in the past. However, there is growing recognition that the resulting stresses and strains might jeopardize tile widespread availability of high-quality home care services. It remains to be seen if an adequate balance can be attained in the next few years'. And with this conclusion, I would like to finish this part of my presentation about home care in the Netherlands, One major conclusion from this part is that the home care is under pressure, In the last part of nay presentation I would like to speak about some processes that are related with this growing workload for the home care in the Netherlands,

Screen 46 (epilogue: contents)

Within the epilogue I will pay attention to two subjects: nursing homes and transmural care. Both subjects have a bearing on the strains that the home care experiences,

Screen 47 (epilogue: foto van nursing home)

Here you see an image of a nursing home. Nursing homes are homes for people who cannot look after themselves, sometimes temporarely, but in most cases people remain in a nursing home until they die. Although the number of beds in nursing homes has been growing in the last 20 years, the number of patients on a waiting list has remained more or less the same.
