7. Sequence and Steps of Exercises
Once students can produce the basic sound "ah" continuously in the above practice, move them on to the practices of other vowels as soon as possible.
・ Vowel exercises
Control abdominal pressure while speaking as explained above, and try to pronounce /a/, /e/, /i/, /o/ and /u/ precisely. The sound /i/ may be more difficult to pronounce than other vowels, but repeated practice will produce a clear sound.
・ Consonants exercises
You have already leaned from experience how to form your lips, tongue, and teeth for each pronunciation. It will therefore be easy for you to pronounce consonants, including the /A/ series /A, I, U, E, O/.
In general, one can inhale as much as some 90 c.c. of air into the esophagus in one breath. This reaches some 180 c.c. with his progress, and this is enough to pronounce two vowels or more in a single breath. Try the following exercises.
