2.2 Economic Condition

 

Economic growth of the Indonesia has remarkably started in 1968 by the government policy of President Suharto and developed by the Five-Year Plan(Repelita) since its starting year of 1969 as Repelita I.

 

Development of economic growth up to the present situation is recorded and summarized by the Five-Year Plan from Repelita I to Repelita VI and main contents of each Repelita are described below.

 

・REPELITA I (1969 - 1973)

Main Policy : Stability of National

Target Plan :

- Yearly Production Growth Rate by 5 % (Actual Rate by 8.4 %)

- Food Production Increase

- Textile Production, Infrastructure, Agriculture

- Inflation Control

 

・REPELITA II (1974 - 1979)

Main Policy : Balancing of Economic Development

Target Plan :

- Yearly Production Growth Rate by 7.5 % (Actual Rate by 7.2%)

- Commodity Supply and Infrastructure

- Social Benefit and Balancing

- Reinforcement of Employment

- Industry Development

 

・REPELITA III (1979 - 1984)

Main Policy : Economic Development and its Distribution

Target Plan :

- Yearly Production Growth Rate by 6.5 % (Actual Rate by 6.1%)

- Economic Development

- Social Stability

- Export of Non-Oil/Migass

- Development of Small-Scale-Industry

- Private Investment

 

・REPELITA IV (1984 - 1989)

Main Policy : Economic Structure Reinforcement

Target Plan :

- Yearly Production Growth Rate by 5 % (Actual Rate by 4%)

- Improvement of National Status

- Improvement of National Benefit
