Changes of Peripheral Blood Components and Serum Chemical Compositions by 200m Dash in Trained and Untrained Men

Yutaka HORIKIRI, Nobuyuki TANAKA (Department of Rehabilitation and Physical Medicine, Faculty of Medicine, Kagoshima University Kagoshima Japan)

[Subjects and methods] Subjects were 24 untrained healthy men (UT-men)(32±7.5y.o) and 9 trained sports men (T-men)(21±1.7y.o). In the morning on fasting, control blood was taken after 20rain sitting position. Then 200m dash was done over 40sec in both UT- and T-men (UT-40 and T-40). On other day, in T-men, 200m dash was done over 27sec. (T-27). Blood was drawn at just after running, 5min, 10min, 20min, 30min, 60min, 120min under sitting position.

[Results] Immediately after 200m dash, RBC, Hb and Ht were increased by 6.8% in UT-40, 4.3% in T-40 and 5.1% in T-27. WBC was significantly increased (27-39%) suggesting an influx from spleen or extravascular system. From the changes of serum protein, cholesterol and TG (big lipoprotein molecules) LDH and al-P, plasma was calculated to be condensed by 10% just after 200m dash on UT-40, and returned to control level after 60min. The changes of plasma T-40 were significantly smaller (2%) than UT-40. The changes in T-27 were nearly identical to that of UT-40. Uric acid elevated 30% until 120rain after 200m dash (UT-40, T-27). As the increase of CPK and GOT were greater32-39%) than other enzymes in UT-men, release of those enzymes from muscle was suggested. Plasma catecholamines were significantly increased in UT- and T-27 (6-9times), and the changes were proportional to the increase of CPK, GOT and PLT.

[Conclusion] Peripheral blood components and serum chemical compositions are significantly changed by running in UT-men than T-men. The changes are provably due to intravascular fluid elimination which is proportional to the strain rather than simple strength of exercise.

Rehabilitation of soft tissues of knee by lesion during sport practice submitted to surgery. (50 cases report).

L. C. Dominguez. (Guanajuato University, Leon, Mexico).

We studied 50 patients with surgery of knee on soft tissues who presented knee lesion during sport practice. Sample characteristics were: mean age 22.5 years (range 15-30); sex: male n=44 (88%), female n=6; lesion type: one ligament tear n=17 (34%); meniscus tear only n=15 (30%); ligament plus meniscus tears n=7 (14%); multiligamental tears n=11 (22%).

Sport practice in relation to lesion shows: Socker n=39 (78%); basket ball n=5 (10%); tennis n=4 (8%); gymnastic n=2 (4%). On first valoration all patients presented goniometry of knee under 60゜(84% between 15-45゜) muscular strength qualification (scale 0-5): 56% in one and 44% in two for cuadriceps femoris. Rehabilitation program had duration like mean 12 weeks (range 4-20).

Results: at the end of treatment all patients presented articular mobility of 120゜ or more (p 0.05), muscular strength for cuadriceps on five p 0.05; hipotrophy was recuperated in 96% of cases; 48 cases back to sport practice and 2 required orthosis for sport.

Rehabilitation program must be specific and constant for every case, working immediately to surgery and using all body to avoid lose of fitness.
