FAX PAPER PODOGRAPHY IN HEALT WOMEN

L.C. Dominguez. (Guanajuato University, Leon, MEXICO).

We evaluated the use of podography maked with wet foot using alcohol on fax paper in 200 health women. Sample shows: age mean 24.5 years (range 15-34); asymptomatic respect to feet and with body weight into normal limits. On foot impression we traced and took measurement of: Metatarsal line (ML), Isthmus line (IL) and heel axis and calculated the relation ILx100/ML. For normal foot impression IL must be 30-36% of ML.

Results: 68 women had normal impression; 20 women presented flatfoot (grade I n=12; grade II n=6; grade III n=2); 112 showed cavus foot- (grade I n=40; Grade II n=36, grade III n=28 and grade IV n=8). Cavus foot correlationed with 8cm high heel shoes, from 79 cases of cavus foot 75 women had halus valgus; the hell axis line observation showed: to more cavus more internal axis. p 0.05.

Conclusions: The foot is a dynamic organ with adaptation and changes over time, and like young woman use high heel shoes in this age, the cavus foot is frequently observed. Fax paper podography is a low price study, easy to make, easy to read and is an excellent complementary study of podoscopy.

ANALYSIS OF THE MOTIONS DURING TRANSFER TO BATHTUB IN HEALTHY ADULTS

The motions during transfer to bathtub are some of the most difficult motions in the ADL of handicapped persons. The motions of healthy adults during transfer to bathtub were investigated by using a motion analyzer focusing on the motion of striding the edge of bathtub, moving between the washing place and the tub.

Five healthy young adults (1 male and 4 females ranging 18-27 years of age; the mean; 22) were used as the subjects. The movements of recursive reflection markers were automatically monitored by using four CCD cameras and analyzed by three-dimensional motion analyzing system, MOA (Japan System Technology Co., Ltd.). The locus was drawn by estimating the position of the center of gravity. A model bathroom equipped with a bathtub of 100 cm in length, 70 cm in width and 50 cm in depth, which is widely used in ordinary houses was constructed so that the washing place was set to be 10 cm higher than the bottom of the tub.

The locus of the gravity center was a S-shaped curve for the right and left component and a bimodal curve for either of the back and forth component or the up and down one of the motions during transfer to bathtub. Regards as the former component, there was one peak in its speed, while for the latter two components there were 3 peaks.
