MINIMUM STANDARDS FOR NEUROLOGICAL REHABILITATION SERVICES
Michael P Barnes on behalf of EFNS Task Force
(Hunters Moor Regional Rehabilitation Centre, Newcastle upon Tyne, UK)
The European Federation of Neurological Societies convened a Task Force in 1996 in order to address minimum standards for neurological rehabilitation services across Europe. The Task Force's report was launched at the EFNS Meeting in Prague in June 1997. The Task Force recommends minimum standards and facilities for services at regional rehabilitation centres as well as tot services at a local and community level. Further minimum standards are recommended regarding staffing as well as regarding accessibility and philosophy of the service. The EFNS Task Force found that these standards were applicable on a global scale and the guide-lines have now been supported by the World Forum of Neurological Rehabilitation.
