趣 旨
今日、世界は地球的規模で諸民族が交流する国際化時代を迎え、新たな国際システムの概念が求められています。特に、長い歴史と多元的かつ多文化的なアジア大平洋地域において、どのような未来を構想すべきか、この地域の歴史、伝統、宗教、民族等の文化的側面からの相互理解に立ったグランドデザインが必要なのではないでしょうか。
今回のアジアの叡知会議は、アジアとは何かを再認識するとともに、アジアにおける近代化の意味について検討を行い、今日のグローバリゼーションの中で、今後アジア太平洋地域の国際関係をいかに築くべきか、「21世紀の世界とアジア」をテーマに、各界のオピニオンリーダーが叡知を結集し、21世紀を展望する新しいアジア世界を示唆する会議を開催するものです。
Objective
What can we do，as citizens of the world with different histories and cultures，to further international exchange and common understanding in this age of deepening mutual dependency and globalization？
What future do we envision for the Asia-Pacific region and how can we，as inhabitants of this region，promote friendship and mutual respect with one another？
These are the questions the Forum addresses with the theme，
"Asia in the 21st Century." Leading intellectuals of many different areas of expertise and cultural and historical backgrounds will gather at the Forum to share their views with the other participants and the Public.
