4 Earthquake preparation by local public bodies
The local public bodies are working positively to strengthen fire-fighting capacity, educate local residents about disaster prevention, stockpile supplies, hold earthquake drills, and determine earthquake preparations as part of the local plan for disaster prevention, etc., in order to promote earthquake preparation in keeping with actual circumstances in the region.
The present state of earthquake preparation by the prefectures and municipalities in fiscal 1995 is as follows.
