(2)The South-west Sea of Hokkaido Earthquake (22:17, July 12th, 1993 M7.8)
The island of Okushiri, located near the source, suffered a seismic impact of 6 degrees of the scale of 10, and a tsunami up to 20 m high attacked the island only 5 minutes after the generation of the earthquake.
Many people became victims of the wave, fire or landslides. Fire disaster was particularly bad because of the geographic factors, with wooden houses crowded together in a windy location.
