Tsunami simulation, western Japan, Wide area, Nankaido coastal area, Osaka bay area. Sanin coastal area
ABSTRACT
Tsunami simulation system for wide area comprehends Western Japan is developed. Wide area system is constituted three local systems. Nankaido-System. Osaka-Bay-System, Sanin-System. The advantage of system is parallel computation for several research ports and coasts. Approximation of topography are used finer grids l/20 - 1/30 of tsunami wave length. Near-shore region in the computational areas are used grids of 200m, and port regions are used 50m. The use of fine grids are assures of high accuracy to simulated tsunami profiles. The computaion of discharge flux at the boundary of continuation with two regions, is composed of non-linear term. By this method. connectional boundary is located on the coast line or land, which is dominate of non-linear effect. With the applications of three local systems, hindcastings of Showa-Nankai-Earthquake Tsunami in the area of Nankaido System and Osaka-Bay System and hindcasting of Nihonkai-Cyubu-Earthquake Tsunami in the area of Sanin System are practiced. Computational distribution of maximum tsunami runup height are similar with the ones of inundation height.
