ABSTRACT
In the Osaka bay. the deterioration of water environment seems to progress gradually. One of main reasons is considered to be the reclamation development The report investigates the impact of reclamation on the water environment especially paying attention on the relation between dissolved oxygen and temperature distribution, and makes clear that the change of water flow due to reclamation induces a stable temperature stratification and, as a result hinders oxygen supply from surface to bottom. There exist some strong demands for reclamation development in the Osaka bay area. The first is a demand for a land for building various industrial plants. transportation facilities, urban systems etc. The second is a demand for a space for disposing a great amount of wastes discharged from industries and urban areas. Therefore it is important to investigate the social control of reclamation development and technological countermeasures for environmentally sound method of reclamation, so that the report gives several proposals
