Hot axle is the one of the problems of wagon failure. No. of hot axle freight wagons is decreasing year by year as shown below due to replacement of the plain bearing with roller bearing and close supervision & control of the examining staffs.

Maintenance Programme and Facilities The maintenance of the hauled stock is based on a number of planned maintenance works executed at different rime periods. The following table gives the different types of planned maintenance:-
For construction & repairing the carriages & wagons there is a one major workshop at Myitnge near Mandalay. This workshop had been built in 1.911. The Workshop estate including residential quarter is 783 acres. The workshop covers an area of 69.59 acres and additional construction workshop was built near by in 1969 and was completed in 1973. Since 1976, construction works of carriage and wagons had been carried out in construction shop which covers an area of 80.5 acres. The aim and object of this workshop was to carry out the heavy repair and periodical overhaul of coaches & wagons. The additional construction shop has been carried out for construction works of new coaches and wagons since 1985 in co-operation with Korean Engineers under the Japanese OECF loans.
