5.2 Development of transport service in the line section
Adding several daytime limited express train services will require some consideration on the commuter service for Bangkok and surrounding areas.
More stable operation of the Northern Line transport and wide and flexible operation capability are helpful for the effective time reduction service. This will contribute to not only daytime limited expresses but also to gradual improvement of transport service level in the entire line section.
(1) Improvement of traffic control
Of train accidents which cause train operation disturbances, most of them are caused by locomotive troubles, level crossing accidents and rail failure. Rebuilding plan of locomotives, remove and modernization of work shop, PR measures for level crossing, track rehabilitation will contribute to a substantial reduction of these accidents.
Together with the above measures, functional control of operation will be desirable so that train disturbances or delay will be minimized as soon as possible. Time-to-time installation of the train monitor board or CTC will be effective for broad catching of train running situation and for quick taking of suitable measures.
(2) Step-by-step transport time reduction
To make the new daytime limited express operation effective, gradual implementation of time reduction will be necessary considering the following matters. This is required to meet the high speed operation and also the improvement of the entire transport service of the Northern Line.
