The State Railway of Thailand (SRT) continued increase of passenger transport in the past. However, the number of passengers has remained flat in recent years. Although Thailand is in the course of rapid economic development, railway services cannot catch up yet with such economic growth. Thus, measures for boosting transport capacity, including the track rehabilitation, are underway.
Transport operation is maintained actually at a high level. The SRT has capability of maintaining high-performance cars. The system for track maintenance and the ability to correct curved lines seems enough to allow high-speed performance of cars.
